reflections and dreams to chase

Balance sheet for 2025 between global crises, hope and Italian pride: from the UNESCO recognition of Italian cuisine to the New Year’s Eve with Tuscan excellence.

As we approach the end of 2025 and prepare to welcome 2026, we experience a night filled with life and hope. Amid the celebrations, toasts and fireworks that light up the sky, we reflect on a complex year, marked by challenges and achievements. This is a moment of balance, in which accumulated experiences are intertwined with future dreams.

Immersed in the festive atmosphere of music and laughter, overwhelmed by trumpets and trains, thoughts inevitably turn to the results achieved and those yet to be achieved. 2025 was characterized by difficulties, with trade tariffs hitting many Italian companies and unresolved conflicts exacerbating social tensions. In particular, the wars underway in different parts of the world highlight a global reality marked by instability and suffering. According to ISTAT statistics, 6 million Italians live in absolute poverty, and the middle class, which is increasingly disappearing, is crushed by the high cost of living; worrying data that highlights the fragility of our social fabric.

However, amidst these shadows, lights also shine. December 10 marked an important milestone with the recognition of Italian cuisine as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, a tribute to our gastronomic tradition that celebrates not only the food, but the cultural and social identity of an entire people.

Tourism in Italy is thriving, with visitors attracted by authentic experiences. They are not looking for simple destinations, but stories to experience and flavors to discover, becoming an integral part of the landscape that welcomes them. On this night of dreams and hopes, the table is filled with culinary delights that tell our story.

The beautiful and the good help us live better, and for this reason we always look for excellence, especially on this magical night. Tuscan delicacies cannot be missing from the New Year’s Eve dinner: from Bezzini’s Cinta Senese cured meats to Lari cherry salami from Macelleria Balestri, from Forme d’Arte cheeses from San Gimignano to Montalcino honey from Hubert Ciacci, from oil from Frantoio di Montalcino to ancient grain bread from Forno Bernardeschi, from Martelli alla Chianina pasta from Macelleria Stiaccini from Castellina in Chianti, to Savini truffles, up to the Panettone from Nannini from Siena, all accompanied by the prized Nobile di Montepulciano Dei.

These producers, custodians of knowledge and flavours, are the true ambassadors of Tuscany and Italy in the world. Their dedication and passion not only preserve culinary traditions, but also tell the story of a region that stands out for the quality and richness of its resources. Every bite, every sip, is a journey through the territory, a celebration of local culture which is reflected in the award received by Italian cuisine. They not only represent the gastronomic heritage, but embody the Tuscan art of living, transforming every dish and every sip into an experience that unites the past with the present.

On this magical night, we raise our glasses not only to celebrate, but to toast the hope that must never abandon us, the happiness that lies in the little things and the dreams that shape our lives. May the horizon of the new year bring us light and new opportunities, and may each of us find, in the scent of memories and the sweetness of promises, the strength for a better tomorrow. Happy New Year!
