Relentless Sinner, Zverev overwhelmed In the final the challenge to Auger-Aliassime to return number one in the world

Jannik takes advantage of the German’s poor physical condition and only grants him one game

All too easy for Jannik Sinner. The arrival at the ninth final of the season is little more than a training session for the number two in the world: an hour and two minutes to trim an incredible 6-0, 6-1 against German Aleksander Zverev. Very heavy score which is explained by the terrible physical condition in which “Sasha” was presented devastated by the marathon in the quarterfinals with Medvedev which he got the better of after two and a half hours of a very tough match and also canceling two match balls. Zverev wasn’t able to recover, these are the frenetic pace of tennis today and playing every day without feeling tired is impossible. It’s the concept that Sinner has also been repeating since the start of the tournament, but all in all it went well for our champion because in the quarter-finals and semi-finals he was on the pitch for just over two hours and without getting too worked up. Today he can return to being number one in the world, meanwhile his score is twenty-five consecutive indoor victories, thirty-second career final, the ninth this season.

Awkward start

Zverev probably wasn’t able to take the field and it showed immediately. Practically standing still on his legs, he was unable to respond to Sinner’s blows who immediately broke his serve. It’s not that Jannik did anything, but the German dragged himself around the pitch, sometimes giving the impression of not being able to stand. First break in the second game, then in the fourth and peremptory 6-0 in the first set. Little better in the second with Zverev who managed to win only one game and then the match became agony for him, fortunately slow because Sinner ended the match with a 6-1.

In the final with Auger-Aliassime

Tomorrow at 3pm Sinner will play the final with the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime who beat Bublik 7-6, 6-4 in the semi-final. The precedents against Auger-Aliassime for Sinner say 2-2: However, Jannik recently won in Cincinnati and at the US Open after two defeats in 2022. But the Canadian is announced to be in great shape and it won’t be easy for Sinner. The motivation, however, is enormous, if he beats the Canadian he becomes number one in the world again.
