By purchasing the stadium, the concession agreements expire: this is why Milan and Inter put an end to the historic habit that guaranteed city councilors access to matches and concerts at San Siro
From now on, Milanese politicians will have to queue like everyone else if they want to attend AC Milan and Inter matches live or concerts at San Siro. It is the collateral effect of the sale of the historic Milanese facility to the two clubs, a transfer which with the formal deed of deed puts an end to the concession contract signed between the Municipality and the clubs in which, from time immemorial, the favorable clause was also hidden which guaranteed the rights, who knows how and why acquired, of the municipal councilors of Palazzo Marino.
In summary: the possibility of requesting two tickets for each team event or concert scheduled at the Meazza, owned by the Municipality itself and leased to the clubs. An issue on which the spotlight had already shone at the beginning of the 2000s, making it difficult to fully understand the technical reasons for what was in all respects a privilege for a lucky few.
In 2017, the issue even came to a vote because the 5 Star Movement had asked to cancel the right, maintaining it only, for reasons of institutional representation, in favor of the mayor, competent councilors and president of the city council. Motion rejected with losses: 25 votes against, only 3 in favor and a couple of abstentions. Therefore we continued with the old habits which, with the transfer of ownership of the stadium to the two Milanese clubs, now lose any contractual coverage.
The immediate effect is that the option has been removed from the portal dedicated to city councilors. Will he return in another form? The line of the two American properties (RedBird for Milan and the Oaktree fund for Inter) seems to be the hard one of eliminating the privilege. Those who know the terms of the matter claim that there is an ongoing negotiation with the aim of bringing back through the window what came out of the main door. Maybe with different numbers than in the past.
Certainly for some time the fans of Milan and Inter, especially if citizens of Milan, have resented the practice of free tickets also because in the last two seasons the prices have increased for everyone, not without widespread discontent, and the continuous sold outs have often made it difficult even to be able to regularly purchase tickets for the matches. Now the chance to make a clean break from the past.
