Jannik equals Djokovic’s record: 24 sets won consecutively in the Masters 1000. Now he faces the winner of Moutet-Machac

All easy for Jannik Sinner in the debut of the ATP 1000 in Miami. Fresh from the success of Indian Wells, the South Tyrolean settled in straight sets the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur 6-3 6-3 in an hour and 10 minutes. Just to please, the Italian champion has equaled the records won consecutively in a Masters 1000, 24, equaling Novak Djokovic. Now there will be one for Sinner in the third round between the French Moutet and the Czech Machac. The difference between Sinner and Dzumuhur was too great and it was evident from the first games with the Italian immediately taking a 3-0 lead.

Too much difference

Sinner plays with ease, Dzumuhur tries to change his game even with runs to the net but Jannik is having one of those days where he is concentrated and doesn’t give anything to his opponent. He only has to cancel one break point and then closes the first set 6-3. In the second set the break comes in the third gameSinner tries to increase the pace and comes close to another break, the Bosnian resists but at 5-3 for Sinner he gives serve to Jannik again and the match ends here.

Satisfied sinner

At the end of the match Jannik expressed himself as follows about his performance: “For me the transition game is very important, it also depends on the day. Starting with a break is always important. I didn’t have much time to adapt to these conditions after Indian Wells but I’m happy to have won, debut matches are never easy. Djokovic’s record? I’m obviously happy, I’m trying to do mine. The important thing is to win, I try to do my best whoever my opponent is.”
