Spalletti’s Juventus also draws (and fails Comolli’s transfer market)

Spalletti’s Juventus like Tudor’s: they draw too much and fail Comolli’s transfer market. Who explained how everyone in the club must align with his vision…

Spalletti’s Juventus are not yet beautiful and, above all, they don’t dance. The one achieved in Florence was the third draw in the first four benches of the man called to replace Tudor. Who, it should be remembered, had been blamed for too many challenges ending with an ‘x’ in addition to the lackluster play which not even the advent of the former national coach and the architect of Napoli’s third championship has yet managed to improve.

Worse than the performance of the Bianconeri, who were flat and uninventive for a long time against a Fiorentina who was very scared of the situation in the standings, there was only the purple crowd with its set of racist insults against Vlahovic which forced the referee Doveri to use two of the three steps of the anti-racism protocol with the risk of having to send everyone home. Duties ended up in the crosshairs of critics together with VAR Guida for the penalty first given and then taken away from Vlahovic: a call bordering on protocol and on which everyone can express their opinion.

Juventus, too many draws even with Spalletti

In any case, refereeing issue aside, Juventus continues to travel with the handbrake on and it is a luxury they can no longer allow themselves. It’s true that we are in November, but the league table is starting to make a significant difference with the top zone, which means fighting for the championship but also worry-free presence in the group of entrants for the next Champions League. And in Europe the margin is, if possible, even less given that in the cold of Bodo the Bianconeri will have the only victory available to avoid compromising the run-up to the second phase of the Champions League and it looks like they will need something better than what was shown at the Franchi.

Spalletti’s choices fail Comolli’s market

There is, however, a further aspect on which it would be good to shine a light. Even against Fiorentina, as well as against Torino and Sporting Lisbon, Spalletti chose to keep Comolli on the bench for the entire summer transfer window. Only on the evening of his debut in Cremona had he lined up Openda from the start with Vlahovic, then nothing more. The Serbian put together 320 minutes in Pallet’s management against Openda’s 73 and David’s 36, who entered Florence with the match practically over. Same fate or almost for Zeghrova and Joao Mario.

It’s true that the coach’s job is to make Juventus achieve results, but it’s clear that sooner or later the issue will become decisive. It should be remembered that during the stop Comolli he explained his philosophy in depth and he did so, regarding the technical choices and the relationship with his coach, saying this: “In the conversation I say: ‘This is how we work, these are our processes, the data guides the choice of players, set pieces, injury prevention and much more. If you’re happy with it, that’s the way it is, otherwise we shake hands and say goodbye'”. In principle it should also apply to Spalletti.
