Questioned by the investigating judge for the stabbing committed on Saturday morning in the San Siro area, the 22-year-old of Gambian origins availed himself of the right not to answer. Meanwhile, chilling details emerge about the moment of the arrest.
More and more chilling details continue to emerge Lamin Saidillythe 22-year-old of Gambian origins arrested on Saturday morning in Milan for having stabbed with about twenty blows Gerardo P., known as Gerry, in front of a bar in via Capecelatro in the San Siro area.
The words spoken to the police
Compounding the situation are the words spoken by the young man of Gambian origin immediately after being blocked by the Volante officers, who arrived when the 22-year-old had already been disarmed and immobilized by passers-by following the attempted murder.
Without any sign of remorse, Saidilly allegedly told the officers who handcuffed him: “I had fun, I’ll do it again as soon as I get out“A sentence which, combined with the dynamics of the attack, is guiding the prosecutor’s assessments.
In the request for validation of the arrest sent to the investigating judge by the prosecutor Elio Ramondiniin addition to attempted murder the aggravating circumstances appear premeditation and gods futile reasons.
According to the current reconstruction of the investigators, in fact, the 22-year-old would have left the house with the intention of hitting the first person who came within rangealso choosing to partially cover his face before striking with a 21 centimeter long double-edged knife.
During the attack he would not have uttered a single word. Some handwritten notes were found in the clothes he was wearing at the time of his arrest, with short motivational phrases in English, while investigators are still excluding, at least for the moment, a possible motive attributable to extremist motives.
Moving away from work and life in London
The investigations are also reconstructing the months preceding Saturday’s attack. Lamin Saidillyborn in Conegliano Veneto to parents originally from Gambia, he had spent about ten years in London together with his family, and then return to Italy at the beginning of 2026.
Having returned to the Treviso area, he had been hired by a company in the area, but the employment relationship was interrupted almost immediately: according to what was reported by his father, Doudou Saidilly, the young man was sent away after an argument with his managers.
Relations within the family also became tense in the days immediately preceding the events in Milan, to the point that Lamin argued heatedly with his father before leaving home without being heard from again for about a week.
They were also found during a search of the family home prescriptions for psychotropic drugs in English, dating back to the London period.
The investigators are also verifying in concert with the British authorities a possible precedent of 2023when a young man of the same name was arrested in Leeds for the attempted murder of a 25-year-old outside a pub. An episode, however, on which there is currently no official confirmation yet.
The interrogation before the investigating judge
This morning, however, it took place in the San Vittore prison the warrant interrogation in front of the investigating judge Luigi Iannelli.
The 22-year-old made use of the right not to answer the judge’s questionsa choice communicated by his lawyer, the lawyer Simona Brambilla, according to which the young man “does not remember anything” of what happened and would find himself in a state of strong shock.
The investigating judge’s provision on the validation of the arrest is expected in the next few hours, while the ten days spent by the 22-year-old between Conegliano and Milan before the attack remain to be clarified, a period that Digos investigators are trying to reconstruct through overnight stays in at least three different accommodation facilities identified so far.
