Checco Zalone does it again: in just seven days in theaters, his “Buen Camino” becomes the most watched film of 2025. In the top ten of the year there are four Italian films behind it
Overwhelming Checco Zalonewhich doesn’t lose its touch (it already has four films in the top ten of the best box office grosses in Italy)! In just seven days of release in theaters Good Caminowhich reunites the director with Gennaro Nunziante, becomes the most watched film at the cinema of 2025 in Italy! Released on Christmas Day, in one week it grossed over 36 million euros, destroying all competition, even the blockbuster blockbusters. Avatar 3which is only fourth in the rankings, with less than half the revenue of the Apulian comedian.
On the podium, in second place, the Disney cartoon Lilo & Stitchfar from Checco, at around 22 million. In third place is another Italian comedy, but by an author, Madly by Paolo Genovese who, once again investigating the relationships between him and her, this time literally entering their heads, repeats and surpasses the success of Perfect strangers (2016), which then grossed over 16 million euros.
Scrolling through the top 10 of the best box office hits of the year, sequels to successful sagas are especially popular, mostly stars and stripes: from the cartoon Zootopia 2fifth with over 16 million euros, in yet another dinosaur adventure Jurassic World – Rebirth (seventh with over 10 million) up to horror The Conjuring – The final rite (tenth with over 9 million), the last film in the series focused on the investigations of paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren.
In sixth place there is A Minecraft moviethe film adaptation of the video game (with 11 million).
It’s surprising to see well among the top ten box office hits four Italian films. In addition to the two already mentioned, in fact, there is eighth place Diamonds by Ferzan Özpetek, the choral story between comedy and melodrama dedicated to the female universe, released in 2024 but with a notable trail of takings in 2025 (over 9 million, compared to a total taking of 16,367,938 euros), and in ninth place still comedy, obviously, and again Gennaro Nunziante, with I am the end of the world and another comedian under his wing, this time the Sicilian Angelo Duro.
