The 15 best international albums of 2025

A splendid Radiohead album, Alice Cooper’s dark rock and Lady Gaga’s pop wall of sound. Our ranking

Why a live album in first place? Simply because i Radiohead after digging into the archives of their live recordings they released a beautiful album, rediscovering the songs from one of their best albums, Hail To The Thief, in a concert version. The result is excellent and surprising at the same time. Among the highest moments of these Live Recordings, Sail To The Moon and A Wolf At The Door.

In second place, Steven Wilsonsomeone who doesn’t give a damn about the disposable musical standards of this time. And in fact he returns in a visionary and progressive rock key with two suites of 23 and 18 minutes respectively.

At 80 and 77 years old the Mael brothers, aka them Sparks they pull another of their classics out of the hat by fusing pop opera, glam rock, synth pop and disco music. Unique and inimitable. Springsteen’s Lost Albums they turn out to be anything but waste material. You have to listen to them over and over again to fully grasp their value, but it’s worth it. Lady Gaga returns to be herself between pop, dance and industrial nuances: her best album in a long time.

Alice Cooper gets the old band back together after 50 years and come back with a great dark rock and roll album (splendid, in particular, Black Mamba and What a Syd). The comeback of the funk genius is also spectacular, Bootsy Collinswith an album that hosts another giant: George Clinton (Parliament and Funkadelic). The pairing Elton John Brandi Carlile, Neil Young and Galactic with Irma Thomas deserve the Top 10, i.e. the best of the two musical institutions of New Orleans. Closing our provisional ranking of the year is the eternal Ringo Starr grappling with his ancient passion: country music.
