In Garlasco the hypothesis of an external killer regains momentum, while the new reports and testimonies are favorable to Sempio and Stasi
Crime and punishment. These could be the three words that summarize Garlasco’s case, which also correspond to the title of the immortal novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky. If it were not for the fact that the 16 year sentence ad Alberto Stasi for the murder of Chiara Poggi leaves more than a few doubts. In this case, it would perhaps be more appropriate to speak of “Punishment without crime”, to quote a famous story from the last century by Ray Bradbury. But also of «Crime without punishment», always by the same author, because if it is true that the investigations on Andrea Sempio will probably lead to an indictment (and not dismissal), it is equally true that the evidence on the 37-year-old does not appear strong enough for a conviction. And so, in light of the latest updates, the hypothesis of one or more external killers has resurfaced, which Clear he knew little or not at all.
What would exonerate Stasi and Sempio
To exclude Stasis it would be the doctor’s report Cristina Cattaneofiled with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Pavia, which contains the new findings and new traces that are decisive for deciding the fate of Example. The document, which shifts the time of the murder at least 30 minutes later, would exclude the presence of Stasiswho at 10 was at his home PC working on his degree thesis.
Serious but not desperate situation Andrea Sempioas confirmed by his lawyer Liborio Cataliotti: «To date the real data that has emerged is reassuring, it would be excessive to say that those in progress they terrify us, we are curious, alert, ready, we will confront each other. I am referring to the only evidentiary data in the documents, the expert report filed and the related minutes of the hearing, the others are between inferences and violations of the confidentiality of the investigation”.
The testimony of a neighbor could also help to exonerate the 37-year-old Poggi: «Example I never saw him here.” Even though he was one of the closest friends of the victim’s brother. The witness added that “maybe they were coming to get me Marco Poggi in the evening.”
The Garlasco killer hypothesis
The trail of the external killer, however, rises again to the news thanks to another testimony, again from a neighbor of the victim. The latter says he saw «a car stopped in the street of Clearit must have been 10pm, there were two of them.” Some strange movements would have attracted his attention, as well as the “open passenger side door”. The car then drove away. A third witness instead mentioned «a man bent over on his bike in front of the gate Poggi» around 7.30 in the morning of the murder, in any case significantly earlier than the time in which Chiara would have been killed according to the doctor’s advice Cattaneo.
And here the idea of a perhaps premeditated ambush would take shape, with stakeouts and inspections that could even involve more people. For example, the Poggi consultants’ investigations recorded a new “print of a naked female foot, size 37-38 with hallux valgus” near the folding door leading to the basement, where the body was located. Yet, it does not belong to the victim. In this sense, the suspicions of Massimo Lovatiformer lawyer of Exampleare extremely current again: «Clear she had discovered something big, that’s why she was killed. The motive? It’s inside your USB stick.”
