The Damiani Maison presents in Rome its collection of collier, earrings and rings made of unique pieces and exclusive stones, inspired by the Bel Paese.
A year after its centenary, the Damiani jewelery maison, founded in 1924, and the only true true Italian international jeweler still owned by the founder family, who reached the third generation, presents, with a sumptuous Capitoline event, its new Haute Joaillerie collection.
“Ode to Italy is a tribute to our country and to the Italian beauties scattered from north to south” He immediately keeps Giorgio Damiani, vice -president of the Group with proxies to the purchase of raw materials, or precious stones, pearls and gold, product development and commercial relations and creation, research and development for all group jewelry brands.
You have chosen a patriotic title Ode to Italy for this collection.
Yes, for us it is an expression of pride of Italianness and at the same time a manifestation of recognition towards our country. Sometimes we do not realize how lucky are and how wonderful they arouse our landscapes and our cities in foreigners. And how much envy.
Can you talk to us about the “metric structure” of this love?
We imagined to decline the collection through three macro-chapter, dedicated to three characteristic elements of the Italian landscape: the light of the sea, the landscapes of the soul and the homes of the time.
Let’s start from La Luce del Mare. What kind of jewelry did you inspire?
Each creation represents a tribute to the elegance of the Italian coastal resorts of the Mediterranean. The jewels therefore evoke the shades of the sea through, for example, the light of precious paraiber tourmaline in various caratures. While the vibrant colors of Sicily find themselves in the rings of the citrus series, characterized by orange sapphires or bright cut rose. The landscapes of the soul, however, are those of the hinterland, the alpine peaks, the volcanoes, the hills. Here the gems, carefully chosen by the skilled Valenzani craftsmen, reflect the authentic colors: the green of the hills, the white of the snow, the dark blue of the waters, the red of the lava and the black of the rock. Finally, the homes of time are our cities from Florence to Rome, from Milan to Venice. In this case the stones can have the square shape of a square, the jewels are created with the geometries of the architecture and are embellished with craft virtuosity that recall the details of ancient buildings. For example, Magnifica is a high jewelery parreure that celebrates the art and figure of Lorenzo the Magnificent: in this case stones have been chosen such as the opal cabochon-goccia and sapphire cutting.
What is your favorite jewel?
The piece that excites me most perhaps is a necklace dedicated to the Rosa dei Budelli beach in Sardinia. In this case, we used a Paraiber tourmaline, of a very intense blue in which you can really dive. Next to there are splendid morganites, stones of a very hot rose that refer to that wonderful beach that unfortunately is now no longer visiting easily.
