Summit in Alaska between Trump and Putin on August 15th. Zelensky could participate. EU reiterates: peace only with Kiev at the table

Donald Trump breaks the delay and announces, via Truth, the most anticipated appointment of international diplomacy: on August 15th he will meet Vladimir Putin in Alaska. A face to face which, according to rumors of the CBS, could expand to the presence of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, thus opening a glimmer for a trilateral on the conflict in Ukraine.

The White House, while confirming the preparations, speaks of “still fluid” planning. Trump, however, is clear: dialogue with Russia will begin, while leaving the door open to a direct involvement of Kiev.

London summit for a common line

Waiting for the summit, London today hosts a strategic meeting with the United States, the European Union, Ukraine and representatives of different European countries, including Italy with the ambassador Fabrizio Suggio. Also present were the American vice president JD Vance and delegates of France, Germany and Poland.

The European Commission reiterates the official position: “Peace must see Ukraine at the table, free to make sovereign decisions”. Kiev, by voice of Zelensky, relaunches the need for “maximum coordination” with the allies and rejects any hypothesis of territorial concessions.

Zelensky: “No reward for Russia”

From his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian president strongly rejects the rumors of the Wall Street Journal according to which Moscow has proposed a ceased the fire in exchange for challenges of territories. “Ukrainians defend what is they … we will not give our land to the occupant,” he writes, specifying that the answer to the territorial question “is already in the Constitution”.

Italy and Moscow controversy

Alaska, return to the USA for Putin after 10 years

The meeting will mark Putin’s return to the United States, absent since 2015. The last time an American president met him dates back to 2021 in Geneva, with Joe Biden, before the invasion of Ukraine. Trump and Putin have been seen six times during the first term of the Republican leader; Now Alaska becomes the new test ground.
