The “Strange” Suicides Among Navy Seals

A New York Times investigation raises concerns about the training of Navy Seals, the U.S. Navy’s special forces. According to the investigation, repeated exposure to blast waves during exercises appears to cause widespread brain damage. The study, conducted on brains of deceased service members donated to the Department of Defense, revealed that the tissue samples showed distinctive damage apparently linked to exposure to the blasts. The analysis involved the brains of eight Navy Seals who died by suicide in the past decade. During that time, at least twelve Seals have taken their own lives, some while still in service and others after retiring.

Nigeria in the chaos of Islamic terrorism

The violence of Islamic terrorists in Nigeria does not stop. On Saturday, June 29, Africa’s most populous country was hit by three attacks in a region that has been subjected to violence by Boko Haram jihadists for years. Three female suicide bombers blew themselves up in Gwoza, a city of almost 400,000 inhabitants in the northeast, causing at least eighteen victims. Some reports indicate that there were 30 dead and as many injured, hospitalized in a local hospital. The first attacker blew herself up during a wedding party and, according to a witness who spoke to the New York Times, at least seven people died in the explosion, including the terrorist and a child she was carrying. The other two attackers detonated their explosives near a funeral procession and a clinic. Among the victims of these attacks are pregnant women, children and the elderly.

Steve Bannon has turned himself in to Danbury Prison in Connecticut, where Donald Trump’s former strategist will serve a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress. The US Supreme Court rejected last week the latest appeal filed by the guru of the American far right, who had refused to testify about his role in the assault on Congress before the House inquiry committee. “I am a political prisoner of Nancy Pelosi, Merrick Garland, Joe Biden and his corrupt establishment,” Bannon told reporters shortly before turning himself in to the Connecticut prison.

North Korea: Forward with missile campaign

Pyongyang says it successfully tested a new tactical ballistic missile capable of carrying a large warhead, but Seoul says the test failed and accuses Pyongyang of lying. According to the North’s official KCNA news agency, the new Hwasongpho-11Da-4.5 model “carried a simulated 4.5-ton first-class warhead” and was tested “for flight stability and target accuracy over a maximum range of 500 kilometers.” However, the South Korean military says the test failed in its early stages, exploding over North Korea itself
