Furthermore, the advantage that polls currently attribute to Harris in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin is much lower than that enjoyed by Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton respectively in mid-August 2020 and 2016. Well, to try to rebalance the media narrative of the current American election campaign, The Truth interviewed the Trump campaign’s chief pollster, Tony Fabrizio: someone who, on July 23, predicted the “honeymoon” that Harris would benefit from. Well, we talked about this “honeymoon” and how the tycoon’s campaign is orienting itself to counteract it. Fabrizio is convinced that Harris’s magic moment is largely inflated by the benevolence of the media. “Our strategy is focused on the economy, borders, and the volatility of global events. Voters have positive memories of how the economy worked under President Trump: non-existent inflation, job growth, low housing costs, affordable gasoline. For example, if President Trump wins everything he won in 2020 and wins Pennsylvania and Georgia or wins Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada, he would surpass 270 electoral votes.”
What are Harris’ biggest vulnerabilities?
“Her record as the district attorney of San Francisco, her record as the attorney general of California, her record as a senator, and her record, shared with Biden, as vice president. She has charted a course that is far to the left of Biden and frankly most voters on everything from tax increases to releasing felons to extreme environmental positions to open borders. And there are so many videos of her, in her own words, advocating for these extreme positions.”
In your opinion, how do you explain the “honeymoon” that Harris seems to be enjoying for a few weeks now? And above all: how long could this “honeymoon” last?
“Simply put, the cause is the American media. The same media that just a few months ago was writing that Biden should replace her as her vice president is now treating her as if none of this had ever happened. They have let her get away with almost everything. It has been more than three weeks and she has still not given any interviews and has answered very few questions. How long the honeymoon will last is difficult to judge, since part of it will depend on how the media treats her in the future and how the debates between her and President Trump go.”
Indeed, some media bias in favor of Harris is hard to deny.
“The media’s treatment of Harris so far is unprecedented. As I’ve noted before, just a few months ago they were writing about how she needed to be dumped because she was a liability to Biden. Now they’re treating her with kid gloves. Americans have always known the media is biased against Republicans, but this is a whole different level of bias. They’re parsing President Trump’s every word and haven’t bothered to call out Harris’s about-faces or outright lies. We, as a campaign, will continue to call out Harris’s resume and positions.”
What do you think about Harris choosing Tim Walz as her running mate?
“This is a perfect example of the media’s treatment of Harris. She ignored not just one, but two potential vice presidential candidates from swing states (Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Mark Kelly of Arizona), who presumably could have helped her win those states, to pick someone who offers her no swing states at all. The media response has been essentially silence. No criticism or analysis of how bad of a pick she made. As for Walz himself, Harris has essentially chosen an ideological soul mate. They share the same far-left positions on crime, borders, the environment, and taxes.”
Harris has recently been challenged by pro-Palestinian protesters in Michigan and Arizona, while she has angered the pro-Israel wing for not choosing Shapiro as her running mate. What do you think?
“I think that could be a real problem for her, because by trying to have it both ways, she will end up alienating both parties.”
Harris and Walz have spoken out against Columbus Day. How will Italian Americans behave electorally?
“Harris and Walz are completely aligned with the woke agenda. There are tons of videos of her proudly proclaiming her allegiance to it. One of President Trump’s strongest groups is Italian-American voters.”
