Appliance bonus: how much do you save on your bill by replacing models in your home?

Facile.it’s analysis examined the average consumption of a typical family (around 2,700 kWh per year and a tariff of 0.31 euros per kWh), comparing the costs of use between high and low energy class models. The results show that refrigerators, ovens and dryers are among the appliances where the change in technology has the greatest impact. A refrigerator with a 350 liter freezer, for example, if class F, it can cost up to 64 euros more per year than a class A model, with a cut in consumption of 67%. Even the electric oven it is among the most convenient appliances to replace: a 70-litre class B oven, used around 220 times a year, weighs on the bill for around 76 euros; by switching to a class A+++ oven, the cost is reduced by two thirds, with an average saving of 50 euros per year. The washing machine offers smaller but still significant savings. A 9 kilo model in class F, used every other day, involves an annual cost of around 55 euros. By replacing it with a class A appliance, the bill is reduced by almost half. The advantage deriving from the replacement of thedryer. A 9 kilo class B model, used for 160 cycles per year, costs around 191 euros; by moving to an A+++ class, consumption is reduced by 68%, with a saving of just over 130 euros per year. Also the dishwasher can contribute to cutting costs: a 13-seat class E model, used every other day, generates a cost of around 53 euros per year; by choosing a class A machine, the bill reduction reaches 43%.

How the bonus works: requirements, methods and times

The 2025 appliance bonus can be requested exclusively online, through the official platform managed by Invitalia and PagoPA or through the IO app.
After logging in and completing the application, the system automatically checks the requirements, including the possible value of the ISEE. Once the verification has been completed, you will receive an alphanumeric code indicating the amount due: 100 euros for most taxpayers and 200 euros for those falling within the ISEE range of less than 25,000 euros. With the code in hand you can proceed with the purchase at one of the retailers participating in the initiative, both physical and online. The discount is applied directly to the invoice, but the voucher is only valid for 15 days from the date of issue, then it can no longer be used. There are two other constraints to pay attention to: the purchase must concern household appliances produced in Europe and the scrapping of an old appliance of the same category is mandatory. The seller or the designated courier will in fact have to collect the replaced device upon delivery, ensuring correct disposal.

The contribution can be used both in physical and online stores, but not on all e-commerce sites. Only shops that have registered on the platform can offer the direct discount. By mid-November the Ministry will publish a complete list of participating retailers, which will include both physical stores and digital platforms. The bonus covers seven categories of appliances: refrigerators and freezers, ovens, washing machines, washer-dryers, dishwashers, tumble dryers, range hoods and hobs. All must comply with specific minimum energy efficiency classes, which vary depending on the product, in line with European directives. However, small household appliances, such as irons, hairdryers or portable air conditioners, are excluded
