In 1968 Guido Spallanzani gave his wife a gold and diamond bracelet with a mysterious acronym TSTQCA.
Tradition dictates that it is passed down from mother to daughter when she turns 18. It is Only You by Spallanzani, the rigid bracelet in gold and diamonds, which bears the wearer’s name in diamonds. A cornerstone of Milanese elegance, the necklace made its debut in the years of protest thanks to the vision of Guido Spallanzani. “We had just moved to the shop in Corso Matteotti”, explained Gaia Spallanzani, fifth generation of the family that today guides the development of the maison, “it was Valentine’s Day and my grandfather didn’t know what to give my grandmother. He was very creative and decided to make a bracelet with the initial letters of the phrase You are everything I love-STQCA in gold and diamonds. My grandmother Rosabianca wore it every day and people started asking her what that mysterious acronym meant, which was in fact a coded declaration of love. From that moment, requests for personalized jewelery poured in: thus an icon of jewelery was born, which we patented in 1975″. Today there are numerous imitations on the market, however, the original Only You weighs thirty grams of gold, VS1 diamonds, FG colour, safety snap clasp and serial number. “It has become a symbol of love and according to tradition, at the birth of a child, a bracelet or necklace with his name is given as a gift”, he continues Spallanzani, “for the age of 18 this jewel is passed down to daughters and so on. For males? It usually passes to the bride-to-be, but if the wedding is off, it has to go back. At each step, the jewel adapts to the tastes of those who receive it: it has been kept until it is ready to reflect the identity of the person who will wear it”. Made to measure, from the choice of materials to the measurements, Only You has gone beyond borders to conquer the public overseas so much so that celebs such as Chiara Ferragni and Kim Kardashian have had personalized bracelets made with their children’s names, while Leni Klum and Charlotte Lawrence have opted for motivational words. But how long does it take to have your own Only You? “It is thought out and accomplished on measure”, concluded the designer, “nothing is left to chance, from design to delivery. We receive by appointment to dedicate all the time necessary to each customer. Usually, in two, maximum three weeks, it is ready.”
