Venice Film Festival, the Nono Red Carpet report cards

The ninth day of the Venice International Film Festival brings to the Lido An intense day of Italian cinemabetween stories of crime, memory and psychological introspection: it is time to Elisa by Leonardo di Costanzo e The monster by Stefano Sollima, two works that explore the labyrinths of the mind respectively and the mysteries of the national criminal news.

On the red carpet of Elisa, Barbara Ronchi and Valeria Golino capture attention with an intense and touching performance. The film tells the story of Elisa, a woman held for ten years for the killing of the older sister and the concealment of the body, but incapable or reluctant to remember the crime. The narrative, which also involves the criminologist Alaoui in an attempt to bring the protagonist back to memory, explores the boundaries between fault, awareness and psychological fragility, offering the public a human drama of great emotional impact.

The monsterseries by Stefano Sollima, instead focuses on the iconic case of the serial killer known as the “monster of Florence”. The first four episodes follow the Sardinian track, starting from the first couple killed in 1969 until 1987, with the events, the events of the Beretta 22 caliber and the evolution of the investigations meticulously carefully reconstructed. With Marco Bullitta, Valentino Mannias and Giacomo Fadda, the production offers an immersive look on One of the most famous and controversial criminal cases of Italian historyalternating investigative tension and historical reconstruction.

The ninth day of the Festival thus confirms Venice’s ability to give space to a rigorous and compelling Italian cinema, capable of combining psychological introspection, historical chronicle and sophisticated dramaturgy. The Lido is confirmed by the stage of narratives that shake, interrogate and involve, offering the public a unique study on the contemporary face of the national cinematographic story.
