After the Sprint Max wins the Grand Prix, now he is -40 behind Piastri who finished fifth. Second Norris, fourth Hamilton
Max Verstappen is unstoppable, in Austin, after his triumph in the Sprint, he also won the Grand Prix. Now the Dutchman from Red Bull he is only 40 points behind world championship leader Oscar Piastri, also approached by teammate Lando Norris who finished second in Austin and is now just 14 points behind the leader. Verstappen has always believed in the possibility of a comeback and the pressure now on Mc Laren is enormous, as demonstrated by the clash between the two “papaya” drivers after the start of the Sprint, a moment which had a negative impact on Mc Laren’s entire US weekend
Finally Ferrari
Ferrari returns to the podium and does so with the third place obtained by Charles Leclerc, once again the Monegasque placed ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari thus recovers points against Mercedes in the race for second place in the Constructors’ World Championship. The Maranello company is only 4 points behind the German team. At the start Leclerc managed to get in front of Norris, the duel between the two was one of the best things of the Grand Prix, but in the end the Mc Laren driver prevailed. Pit stop for Norris on lap 32: the Briton returned to the track third behind Leclerc. Then after a long chase on lap 51 he managed to overtake Charles definitively, but in the meantime the gap from Berstappen had become unbridgeable
Leclerc happy, Max even more
Finally a smile for Charles. “I was a bit worried when I saw that I was the only one with red tires at the start, I knew it was a risky move,” commented the Ferrari driver. “What I had in mind was to take advantage of the soft to try to have clean air. It was a very optimistic vision because we had two cars in front, but at least we gained a position. I’m happy overall because it was a difficult second part of the year and we are back on the podium after a complicated start to the weekend. We have recovered well.” But the happiest of all is Max Verstappenwho believes more and more in the World Cup. “Winning the fifth World Championship? Yes, the possibility is there”, says the reigning world champion. “We just have to try to give our best in these last weekends until the end. We will do everything we can. It’s exciting. We just have to keep the momentum going and see what happens.”
