While Milan takes over from Florence as the capital of men’s fashion, Vicenza inaugurates the international calendar of the gold and watchmaking sector with VOJ – Vicenzaoro January. In the city of Palladio, 1400 brands, 40% from foreign countries, with the largest presences from Turkey, Hong Kong, Thailand, Germany, Belgium, Spain and India, tell the news of jewels & co. until Tuesday. Organized by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, the exhibition opens in light of the latest data released by the Mediobanca Research Area on the gold-silver-jewellery sector in Italy, which analyzed the numbers of the 101 major players with a turnover exceeding 19 million euros each. According to the report, the Italian sector will grow by 5.8% in 2025 with the top players, including Bulgari, Morellato and Pgi, generating a turnover of 8.9 billion euros. Growth is driven by exports, but pays the price in profitability for the increase in raw material costs. Nonetheless, the first nine months of 2025 underline a delicate situation as emerges from the economic note prepared by the Confindustria Federorafi Study Center. In the period examined, in fact, exports dropped by 15.2% compared to 2024, a decline which, on the one hand, appears physiological after the exploits of the last three years; on the other hand, it warns of a contraction in sales in key countries such as the USA and Turkey which, after the extraordinary growth of 2024 (+468.7%), corrects by losing 52.2% between January and September. However, the data relating to exports from the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan and China are positive. “Our Jewelery Boutique Show – explained Matteo Farsura, head of IEG’s gold fairs – is a business platform, hub of innovation, training and discussion for the protagonists of the sector.
