what happens now and how to continue using online services

From 9 October 2025 the PostePay app will be officially closed. All its functions will move to the new Poste Italiane application, the single digital access point for cards, accounts, payments, insurance, energy and telephony. Here’s what changes and what to do to be ready

October 8th is the last day of the PostePay app as we know it. Of course it will remain free, not like SPID, but from Thursday 9 October 2025the application that has accompanied millions of Italians in the daily management of their prepaid cards, it will stop working. It is not a technical failure, nor a sudden outage, but it is the decision of unify digital access to all Poste Italiane services under a single platform.

What changes for customers

So whoever wants check the balance of your PostePay card, recharge it or make a bank transfer you will no longer be able to do it through the old dedicated app. Instead, you will have to use the new version of the Poste Italiane app.
The operation was announced early and had already begun with the divestment of the BancoPosta app last June: Poste Italiane thus becomes the only digital channel to manage not only cards, but also current accounts, investments, insurance, electricity and gas supplies, and telephony.

How to access the new app

For all those who own one PostePay card or one PosteMobile simit will be enough download the Poste Italiane app from the Google Play Store or fromApple App Store.
Once opened, There is no need to register a new account or create different passwords, but that’s enough log in with the same credentials already used on the official Post Office website and on the PostePay or BancoPosta apps. This should minimize inconvenience.

The objective of Poste Italiane

The purpose declared by Poste Italiane is clear: we want it simplify users’ lives concentrating everything in a single tool, without the need to have too many different apps, one for cards, another for the current account and yet another for post office services.
However, there is a risk: with millions of users owning it PostePay cards or one PosteMobile simthe new application could be overloaded with features and therefore perceived less intuitive.

The first weeks they will be decisive for the developers to fix any slowdowns or bugs and so allow a user transition as natural as possible and avoid queues at the counter.
