The Prince of Wales would refuse any event shared with his brother so as not to fuel the illusion of a reconciliation which, away from the cameras, would never have happened.
Prince Harry’s return to the United Kingdom does not seem destined to result, at least for the moment, in a public reconciliation with his brother. According to new rumours, Prince William has in fact ruled out the possibility of participating in events or official commitments together with the Duke of Sussex, fearing that a simple photograph could be interpreted as proof of a peace which, in reality, has not yet been achieved.
William doesn’t want to stage a reconciliation
What divides the two sons of King Charles III is not only the distance accumulated in recent years, but also the different meaning attributed to public appearances. William would be aware that any event shared with Harry would immediately be read by the media as a sign of détente. An image of the two princes side by side would inevitably end up on the front pages, fueling the story of a rediscovered family unity.
A narrative that the Prince of Wales, reportedly from a source a RadarOnline.comwould consider false. “William’s position is that Harry’s choice to return to live in Britain cannot suddenly repair their relationship,” the insider explained. The heir to the throne would therefore not be willing to appear next to his brother during public engagements just to produce photographs capable of suggesting the opposite.
A royal expert reiterated the same concept, underlining how William believes that sharing a stage or a ceremony with Harry would be interpreted as confirmation that any conflict has been overcome. “From William’s point of view, that would be completely false,” he said.
The wounds caused by the Sussexes’ farewell
The relationship between William and Harry progressively deteriorated after the Sussexes’ decision to renounce their role as active members of the royal family and move to California in 2020. Added to the tensions linked to the exit from the monarchy were the interviews given by Harry and Meghan Markle, the docuseries produced for Netflix and above all the revelations contained in the autobiography Spare.
William has never commented openly on his brother’s accusations, but rumors coming from the royal environment have long described a deeply compromised bond. The Prince of Wales would still be resentful of the way in which Harry and Meghan publicly spoke about the relationships within the family, also involving Catherine and questioning the functioning of the institution.
