The premium taxed at 1% envisaged by the Budget is not yet operational: amount, conditions known and what remains to be clarified
Two thousand five hundred euros premium for young workers under 30 years old, taxed at 1%. This is new for those under 30 in the maneuver approved by the Council of Ministers. The bonus is not yet operational: the green light from Parliament is needed and many details remain to be clarified during the budget law process.
2,500 euro bonus under 30: how much it’s worth and how to get it
The announced amount is 2,500 euros, with a substitute tax of 1%. Therefore, on the maximum ceiling the levy would be just 25 euros, much less than the ordinary taxation on income from work. The premium can be paid in a single payment or divided into 12 monthly instalments: in this case the paycheck would grow by around 208 euros gross per month. It remains to be seen whether the formula will be chosen by the worker or the company.
Who can have the youth bonus: the requirements known for now
The only confirmed requirement concerns age: being under 30 and employed. According to initial indications, the measure would be reserved for employed workers. However, it will not be a contribution automatically recognized by every young person who works. The type of contract, how long one must have worked, the possible income threshold, the deadline within which to meet the requirements and a possible limit to the first contracts still need to be defined. The complete picture will only come with the text of the Budget law.
When the bonus arrives and how much is left in your pocket
The prize has been announced and will become operational only after the final approval of the Budget Law in Parliament. For now there are no dates and both the procedures for obtaining it and the role of the employer remain to be established. The actual net figure will also depend on the final tax rules and any other conditions or withholdings.
The youth package: there is also a discount on rent
The award is part of a broader set of measures for young people. On the front of the housethe maneuver provides for a five-point cut in the flat rate on contracts with an agreed fee, which would drop to 5%. If the tenant was under 35, the landlord’s rate would drop to 1%. Explaining the meaning of the intervention, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said: “We want a boy who starts working in Italy to feel that this nation wants to encourage him and we want to do everything we can so that Italian boys don’t think that to build a future they have to pack their bags and leave”.
