Harry and Meghan on sale on Netflix: she dusts off the stove, but the recipe knows of mold

It seemed the modern fairy tale of two former real ones ready to conquer Hollywood, instead she turned into a bare chess game. A few weeks ago we asked ourselves if Meghan Markle had now missed the opportunity to take on the role of the great producer. At the time, the renewal with Netflix was in the balance, and the general impression was that the Sussex had wasted the chance to demonstrate the world of being able to build something solid with their own hands, without the support of Buckingham Palace.

Then, in the heart of summer, the news came: Netflix renewed the contract signed in 2020, but with reserve. Other than the fabulous 90 million euros Collected to the first signature: this time the figure is much more contained. The American and British newspapers speak of downgradewhile the detractors of the couple – never short of poison – have also gone to call him a “humiliation”.

The official figures were not known, but the New York Times He wrote that the new agreement is worth “a considerably lower sum than that perceived by the couple in 2020”. Not only that: Netflix has imposed rigid conditions. Away the exclusive distribution (which in the first contract was total) and inside the so -called clause First Look: Each new project will first have to go into the examination of the top of the platform, which will have the right of pre -emption. If they refuse, Harry and Meghan will be able to bring it elsewhere. In short, home to guests who politely knock on the door.

In the renewal package also includes an investment in the brand AS EVER, The Lifestyle and drinks brand launched by Meghan together with its first cooking program. The official press release promises “new AS EVER brand products and the creation of projects in line with the values shared between Archewell Productions and Netflix”.

Meghan tries again with the kitchen (but nobody has yet digested the first season)

Waiting to find out if the “reduced” contract will bear fruit, Meghan warms up the television stove. In fact, the second part of With love, meghanhis culinary show that appeared in March on Netflix. At the moment, it is one of the few projects concretely carried out by the couple together with the documentary Harry & Meghan.

However, the format did not conquer the public: Many have found the “rarefied” atmosphere and all too trivial recipes. Even Martha Stewart, undisputed queen of American television cuisine, did not spare criticism: “If you don’t know what you are talking about, better to pull back.” A stocked that weighs.

It must be said that the new episodes are not a real second season, but a continuation of the episodes already shot last year. And the doubt remains: in 2026 will we see a third chapter of the program? Or the contract just renewed with Netflix represents the desperate attempt of a new start for the Duchess in the “magnate of entertainment” version?

If the quality remains that of the first season, perhaps it is better not to warm the pots too much.
