2040 Olympics, why Italy can do it (despite the no lords)

Candidating Italy for the Summer Games is not heresy, given the many compliments for the Winter Games. With all due respect to those who row against it (but then wallow in it)

The Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics confirmed that Italy is a country in excellent health and not only due to the record number of medals won by the Italian athletes, which in itself must say something. The certificate of good health was given to us by the whole world who undoubtedly appreciated the quality of the event and everything that had been put in place to make it happen. Not an easy feat given that it was the first widespread Olympics – that is, scattered in non-neighboring locations – in the history of the Games. According to the first estimates, the economic result is also above expectations, bringing the final balance closer to that “zero cost” promised by the organizers but which above all projects an increase in GDP of several billion for the future of the area concerned.

All this was achieved in the face of those who hoped and cheered for the opposite, who considered the occasion a stupid, useless and dangerous waste of energy and money. We know them, they are the usual left-wing company of the “no” gentlemen: in the 1950s they opposed the construction of the Autostrada del Sole because it would have disfigured the landscape and widened the social gap between those who had and did not have a car; shortly afterwards their no was expressed against the arrival of color TV, also in this case because it would have created a difference between those who could and those who could not afford it; then, in more recent years, it was the turn of the no to the TAV, which is not just – as they want us to believe – a railway between Turin and Lyon but rather a section of a transnational connection between Eastern and Western Europe which, if completed, will bring enormous benefits to the transport of men and goods; it then fell to the battle for the no Tap, the gas pipeline that crossed Puglia – according to the gentlemen – “devastating the olive groves”, which if we had done it today with nothing other than an energy crisis, we would be on our knees; we are talking about the no Messina Bridge on a daily basis, they coincide not only with the “no justice reform” but also with the “no Olympics” who, God willing, have been unemployed for a few days, much to the chagrin of their spokesmen, led as usual by Marco Travaglio who, while gold and compliments were showering on Italy, was indignant at the overtime to which the workers were forced.

The members of the “Club of no” are like parasites: they let themselves be transported like crazy into well-being, growth and beauty by sucking the blood from those who build well-being, growth and beauty by working hard, with ingenuity and passion. A parasite is someone who lives at the expense of others without working and exploiting their efforts. They too, like all Italians, have benefited greatly from the Olympics but they spit on it. And so I propose to give him another opportunity: let’s break the delay and put Italy forward for the 2040 Summer Olympics, we have all it takes to do so. So for another 14 years the parasites will know what to live for, and Travaglio will know what to write about…
