The story also focuses on the personal journey of Marracash, born Fabio Rizzo, and on the relationship with the neighborhood of origin.
«I followed Marracash for a year. I spent a year next to Fabio Rizzo. I tried to capture every step of that compelling adventure that is his life, his story. A story of redemption, talent, strength, but also of fragility. In portraying the complex humanity of this great artistI felt the emotion of being close to him in the realization of a lifelong dream, the performance in the San Siro stadium, and then in the most intimate, unusual moments, where the mask came away and only the soul remained”, declared Mezzapesa.
The director then added: «This documentary film was an incredible journey in which I didn’t limit myself to portraying him, I also and above all tried to get to know him, finding everyday life in his verses and the truth in his lyrics. A journey that started following Marra’s direction, but then inevitably found itself following the deviations determined by Fabio. They were never shortcuts, rather hidden, unknown, surprising, unprecedented ways. A journey in which Marra and Fabio slowly met, until they achieved an original and at the same time true portrait of the artist and the man. In the end, a journey that I will carry with me for a long time.”
The final part of the documentary is dedicated to a Block Party organized in the artist’s neighborhood, conceived as a symbolic return to one’s origins and the final moment of a personal and artistic journey told in the film.
