New Tensor G6 chip, updated cameras and a more proactive AI assistant: Google’s Pixel 11 family focuses on pervasive artificial intelligence, while the Pro Fold remains outside the Italian market.
Google officially presented the family Pixel 11consisting of four models: Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and the foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It is not the year of the aesthetic revolution, but rather the year in which the company openly declares to have designed the hardware around artificial intelligenceand not the other way around.
The common thread is called Gemini Intelligencethe suite of AI features that promises a more proactive assistant, capable of observing the context on the screen and suggesting the next action, from saving a plane ticket in Wallet to booking a table after a chat with friends.
Design and cameras, the real bar of novelty
The most visible distinctive feature is the bar room rear, redesigned and thinner by 40% compared to the previous generation. A. debuts on the basic Pixel 11 new 48 MP main sensor with a 56% higher light sensitivity, supported by a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and up to 30x digital Super Zoom.
The models Pro and Pro XL take it up a notch, with an all-new main lens and a 48MP telephoto lens with 30% improved light sensitivity, plus a Pro Zoom that goes up to 120x and up to 5x optical Portrait mode.
The displays remain 6.3 inches for the Pixel 11 and Pro, while the Pro XL increases to 6.8 inches. Both Pro models are protected by the new Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which Google claims is more than double in scratch resistance.
HiLight and Tensor G6, the AI that literally lights up
It debuts only on the Pro models HiLighta ring of colored LEDs around the flash that lights up to signal notifications, calls from favorite contacts with custom colors, and, most importantly, Gemini’s status when it listens, processes, or responds to a request.
Under the bodywork, the entire range features new Tensor G6produced at 3 nanometers and supported by the Titan M3 security coprocessor: Google claims up to 20% more energy efficiency, 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app launch, with 50% of additional computing power dedicated to Gemini Nano, the AI model run directly on the device.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold, you can’t buy it in Italy
The range is completed by Pixel 11 Pro Foldthe thinnest and lightest foldable ever made by Google, with a structural resistance that the company defines as tripled compared to the previous model. The external display measures 6.5 inches, the internal one expands to 8 inches with LTPO technology and peak brightness of 3,600 nits.
On board there is the same Tensor G6 as the range, up to 16 GB of RAM and seven guaranteed years of software updates. The starting price is 1,999 euros for the 256 GB version, with pre-orders open from August 12th. The problem, for those writing from here, is that the Pro Fold will not arrive in Italy: like the three Pixel foldables that preceded it, it will be officially marketed in other markets such as the French one.
Pixel Watch 5, health on the wrist becomes more proactive
Alongside smartphones, Google has also updated its smartwatch with the Pixel Watch 5available in 41 and 45 mm sizes, in Wi-Fi or 4G/LTE version. The heart remains the proven Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor.
The real novelty is the function Breathing Emergency Detectionwhich monitors the saturation of oxygen in the blood and, in the event of a critical drop without response from the user, automatically calls for help by sharing the location: at launch it is active in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Ireland, not yet in Italy.
The Actua 360 AMOLED display reaches 3,000 nits of brightness, the declared autonomy reaches up to 40 hours (72 in energy saving mode) and there is satellite SOS, included free for two years.
Prices and availability
In Italy, pre-orders for the entire range have already started, with arrival in physical and online stores from August 20th. The Pixel 11 starts from 999 euros, the Pixel 11 Pro from 1,199 euros and the Pixel 11 Pro XL from 1,399 euros, all with at least 256 GB of memory and a maximum cut of 1 TB on the Pro models.
The Pixel Watch 5 debuts at 419 euros for the 41 mm Wi-Fi model and 449 euros for the 45 mm, with a surcharge of 100 euros for the LTE variants. The sales channels indicated by Google are Google Store, Amazon, MediaWorld, Unieuro and Euronics. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold, as mentioned, remains reserved for other European markets.
