AIEA asks for urgent access to Iranian nuclear sites to check the ricks of enriched Uranium

The general manager of the International Agency for Atomic Energy (AIEA), Rafael Grossi, urged immediate access to Iranian nuclear plants to verify the quantity and state of the enriched uranium stocks, near the threshold necessary for the construction of an atomic bomb. During an extraordinary meeting in Vienna, Grossi underlined the importance of allowing inspectors to return to the site to perform a precise inventory, in particular of the 400 kg of Uranium enriched at 60%. Grossi also reported having received a letter from Tehran on 13 June which announced the adoption of “special measures for the protection of equipment and nuclear materials”. The request reflects the urgency of monitoring the Iranian nuclear program closely in the context of growing international tensions.
