Attack on the Memorial of the Holocaust of Berlin: a seriously injured man

On Friday afternoon, a man was seriously injured near the Memorial of the Berlin Holocaust by an aggressor still unknown. The police, who immediately intervened on the spot, reported that several people attended the scene and were rescued by the emergency services for the shock immediately.

According to the newspaper Tagesspiegelthe police have isolated the area of ​​the memorial in the city center and started research to identify the manager. The injured man would have been hit with a sharp object and was urgently transported to the hospital by the firefighters.

The attack would have occurred on the north side of the monument, near the Embassy of the United States. At the moment, the police did not provide details on the possible motive for the attack, and the assaulting is still on the run.

The Memorial for the murdered Jews of Europedesigned by the architect Peter Eisenman in collaboration with the Buro Happold studio, is one of the most symbolic places in the German capital. It extends over an area of ​​1.9 hectares and consists of 2,711 cement stele arranged in a grid on an inclined soil.

The authorities continue with the investigations to clarify the dynamics of the incident and guarantee safety in the memorial area.
