Because in Europe we have gone from the electric car … to the tank

The last commandment of Ursula von der Leyen is precisely this: “a fireplace of 800 billion” to arm Europe against the Russian threat. Where you have to go and get this mountain of money, in a continent already prostrated by the economic, employment and demographic crisis, it is part of a plan written on the clouds. Part of this money should be taken as debt, a further ballast on the skin of future generations. About 94 would then be diverted by the fund for cohesion, which in theory would serve to encourage the growth of the poorest countries in Europe. But today, growth is an optional: there are other priorities. No longer the ecological transition, with which the members of the Politburo of Brussels were balocate while the world embarked without their knowledge. No longer the health emergency, no longer the Eurodelirs linked to the budget constraints, which for years have suffocated the growth on the wave of “zero debt” ideology.

Now, the imperative is military: von der Leyen, strong of any electoral consensus, presses on the accelerator of the tank, And once again dissenting opinions are not allowed. As if from today, with a plan written in a few hours, in the penumbra of the buildings of Central Europe, the old continent could have common armed forces capable of defending their boundaries. That’s right: the boundaries. Those who have been snubbed for years, when Italy, most of the time, was the only one to ask for a common force capable of patrolling them.

Today, assuming that this “Force de Frappe” of 800 billion can really be set upnon -trivial questions are added: with which defense companies we should build the European army? And who will guide him? Who will make sure that the contingents spread in the same direction? The point is that, while in the sacred community rooms we took place on the Zerovirgola of this or that budget, the European political unit – which has always presided over the military one – has always remained a mirage. Obtained by the contested protagonists of the Merkel, Sarkozy, Macron: all people for whom united Europe and such only if there are them in command.

And to think that the motto that inaugurated, in our house, the war in Ukraine, was “peace or air conditioner”. Today we prepare for war, and in any case the conditioner’s bill is destined to sketch upwards. With an increasingly solid suspicion: when the measures are made to swallow in a hurry on the drum of the permanent alarm, someone normally earns us. As a rule, always the usual.
