Minister Calderone reveals: the subsidy wanted by the Grillini (and re-proposed by the Largo camp) was a godsend for the dishonest and 1.5 billion were never recovered. If we add the wizards with the Superbonus, there are 16.7 billion given away to the smart ones
In the days in which the broad field is dusting off the citizen’s income, with the hope of repeating in the next elections the vote-swapping operation which in 2018 allowed the 5 Star Movement to conquer 221 single-member constituencies, filling up in the South and on the islands, the data on the scams carried out with the subsidy dear to Giuseppe Conte comes to the surface. The figures were provided by the Minister of Labour, Marina Calderone, who, as a guest on Quattro di sera, specified that the allowances received unduly up to 2023 (the year in which the Meloni government put an end (to the manger) amount to 1.7 billion euros, a large part of which, i.e. almost a billion and a half, have not yet been recovered and, perhaps, never will be. In practice, the State has paid thousands of people who passed themselves off as needy and entitled, when instead they had no right to collect that money. If anyone is not clear about what it means to make such a sum disappear, it is enough to say that it is more or less equivalent to what was allocated by the last budget with the health voucher for those over seventy-five who receive a minimum income, but it is also almost half of the entire increase in funds allocated to the National Health Service. So, for those who have not understood, we are not talking about pennies, but about an enormous amount the citizen’s income, in addition to having cost a fortune for the state coffers, has not produced the desired result, i.e. an increase in employment, and has also been the subject of speculation and theft, which has made people who did not deserve it rich, or at least happy.
However, despite the distortions and embezzlements, the broad camp insists, saying that it wants to include a return to the citizen’s income formula in the government program.
That is, more money for everyone or, to be more precise, more money for all those who do not work and, we add, perhaps work illegally. After all, 5 Star and his companions are specialists in giving away money like a shower, making Italians believe that the gift is free, that is, not paid for by taxpayers. Remember the 110 percent superbonus?
Conte campaigned on it in 2022, touring Italy shouting “You can renovate your house for free”. There are those who, sifting through hundreds of video recordings of the rallies, have constructed an online catchphrase with the promise of allowing Italians to rebuild their homes and castles without paying a single euro. As with the citizen’s income, which cost a total of 35 billion, of which 1.7 disappeared thanks to scams, the Superbonus also created a chasm in the state’s accounts.
Estimates range between 180 and 200 billion, because not even the final bill is yet clear. But it is certain that part of that money ended up in the pockets of thousands of scammers. I’m not the one saying it: it was certified by a gentleman who in the next elections will be a candidate in the broad field, i.e. in the same coalition that created that budget hole. Ernesto Ruffini, former director of the Revenue Agency, spoke in a parliamentary hearing about 15 billion collected by companies and private individuals who had no right to appropriate it. Of course, the former tax collector is the founder of yet another small center party, but the plan envisages that he and Franco Gabrielli, former director of the secret services, bring grist to the mill of Camp Largo, allying themselves with Conte, Schlein and Renzi, or rather with the leaders of those parties that created the chasm of the Superbonus. Therefore, it is one of them who says that the State gave away 15 billion to the scammers.
Also in this case, as with the citizen’s income paid to those who were not entitled to it, a question arises spontaneously: how many things could have been done with that money?
Just think, between the superbonus and the subsidy, just looking at the scammers, we are at 16.7 billion, in practice two thirds of the sum made available with the maneuver. If they had not been thrown away, try to think how much could have been spent on healthcare, to support families and also to reduce excise duties. And now, while you’re at it, make another effort and imagine what other damage the left-wing party could do if it returned to Palazzo Chigi. I already see them and I worry.
