Lights and shadows from the Italians on the field in the Indian Wells tournament in California. Easy victory for Jannik Sinner, Flavio Cobolli and Jasmine Paolini go ahead, while Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti do not make it through. Jannik Sinner had no problem beating the Czech Dalibor Svrcina 6-1, 6-1 in his debut match. While Lorenzo Musetti disappointed who was returning from the injury that had forced him to interrupt the quarter-final match of the Australian Open against Djokovic when he was now one step away from the semi-final. The Tuscan was eliminated by Marton Fucsovics with a score of 7-5, 6-1 in an hour and 29 minutes of play. Matteo Berrettini’s adventure also stopped in the second round, defeated by Zverev in 2 sets: 6-3, 6-4. At the end of the match Sinner said he was satisfied: “I started the serve very well, this allowed me to push in return. We prepared a lot, with many hours of training on the pitch and in the gym. Here with me are my best friends, I’m happy to spend time with the people I love, they give me serenity”
Good Cobolli
Flavio Cobolli, however, reached the third round after defeating the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in 3 sets. Jasmine Paolini also did well, overcoming Potapova and prevailing at the end of a 2 and a half hour battle which ended with a score of 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-3. Sinner’s next opponent, in the third round, will be Denis Shapovalov. Cobolli will face Tiafoe and Jasmine Paolini Tomljanovic.
