Donald Trump, coldness with Iran on nuclear power grows

The nuclear interviews cross a difficulty phase. And the American president is returning to pressure the Khomeinist regime

The fibrillations between the Trump administration and Iran are returning. The Khomeinist regime rejected the draft agreement on nuclear power, put forward by the Americans. In particular, the Ayatollah have made it known that they did not have the slightest intention of renouncing the e -revocation of the uranium. A position, this, which significantly irritated Donald Trump, who, after various rounds of interviews between Iranians and Americans, hoped that the agreement was now close.

Not surprisingly, the American president spoke of the question in his recent phone call with Vladimir Putin. On the occasion, the Tsar is de facto offered as a mediator between the parties. On the other hand, we remember that Tehran represents the main Middle Eastern ally of Moscow: a fly that, after the fall of Bashar al Assad last year, is increasingly found in difficulty in the Middle East and which therefore hopes to recover political-diplomatic influence in the region. For its part, the tenant of the White House has returned to pressure the Ayatollah under pressure, warning that the US army “is accumulating weapons at a rhythm never seen before in our country”. “We hope that we will never have to use them,” he added.

Last Friday, the American president came to the dose. “They will not make the enrichment of the uranium. If they do, then we will have to take the other way,” he said, referring to the event of bombing the Iranian atomic sites. Israel, on the other hand, has made it known that it will not attack those areas, unless the nuclear interviews between Washington and Tehran should wreck. Recall that the Jewish state and Saudi Arabia fear that Iran can equip themselves with the atomic weapon: a scenario that even the White House aims to avoid.

To further worsen the picture is the fact that, according to what reported last week since Wall Street JournalIran would have “ordered China thousands of tons of components for ballistic missiles”. Now, such a revelation does not only risk complicating nuclear negotiations, but could also hinder Trump’s strategy, aimed at trying to stem the influence of Beijing on the Middle Eastern chessboard. In this sense, the irritation of the White House towards Iran could increase.

But nuclear power is not the only dossier that characterizes the relationship between Trump and the Khomeinist regime. Last week, the American administration inserted Iran in the ranks of the countries whose citizens will suffer heavy restrictions to enter the United States. A circumstance, this, which has deeply annoyed the Ayatollah. The Tehran Foreign Ministry has in fact branded the US provision as “a clear signal of the dominance of a supremist and racist mentality among American politicians”.
