Freedom has a new gateway into the world Harley Davidson. Is called Sprint 440 and it is the motorcycle with which the American company aims to make the pleasure of two wheels even more accessible, without giving up the style, character and riding sensations that have made the Milwaukee brand famous. A compact, lightweight motorcycle designed to transform every journey into an opportunity for fun, from city traffic to extra-urban roads.
The new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 will make its public debut in EICMAthe international two-wheel exhibition scheduled in Milan from 5 to 8 November. Its arrival in participating dealerships is expected globally, with different times and availability depending on the markets. The project is based on the collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, one of the main motorcycle manufacturers in the world, with which Harley-Davidson has developed a proposal intended to broaden its audience.
“The new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 is our invitation to get in the saddle,” he said Artie Starrspresident and CEO of Harley-Davidson. The objective is to address a transversal audience: those who are approaching motorcycles for the first time, those who want to go back to riding after a break and those who, despite already having experience, are looking for a simple, agile and fun vehicle.
A Harley soul in a compact format
The Sprint 440 retains the stylistic elements that immediately recall the Harley-Davidson identity. The riding position, the inclination of the fork, the sculpted tank, the short rear mudguard and the fastback saddle contribute to defining a cruiser setting, reinterpreted through small dimensions and greater accessibility.
The design was studied to combine tradition and modernity. The suspended headlight, the machined finishes of the engine and the cast aluminum wheels and the tapered silencer are some of the distinctive elements of the project. Graphic details also play an important role: the three available colors, Dark Billiard Gray, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder, are characterized by orange graphics on the tank, with a deformed checkered pattern and the Harley-Davidson writing.
Harley Hare also appears on the sides, a new graphic character that recalls agility, speed and fun. A choice that underlines the vocation of the Sprint 440: a Harley-Davidson designed to be experienced lightly, without losing its personality.
Low saddle and low weight: ease at the center of the project
One of the most interesting aspects of the new Sprint 440 concerns ergonomics. The height of the saddle with the rider on board is 671 millimetres, a measurement that favors the support of the feet on the ground and helps to convey greater safety when maneuvering from a standstill. The narrow profile of the bike and the tapered shape of the seat further help to make handling the vehicle easier.
The curb weight is 189 kilograms. A fact which, together with the compact dimensions and the assisted clutch, aims to make the Sprint 440 more intuitive even for those without great motorcycling experience.
Harley-Davidson also offers various solutions to customize the riding position. The Reach and Tallboy accessory saddles allow you to adapt the ergonomics to different heights, while the Brawler Solo is designed for those who prefer to travel alone, favoring a more essential setting.
The 440 cc single-cylinder: torque at low rpm and low fuel consumption
The heart of the Sprint 440 is a 440 cc single-cylinder engine, air and oil cooled, designed to favor mechanical simplicity, ease of use and low running costs.
Maximum power reaches 27 horsepower, equivalent to 20 kW, at 6,000 rpm. Maximum torque is 38 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Numbers that tell the story of a motorcycle designed more for everyday usability and prompt delivery than for the pursuit of absolute performance.
The long stroke of the piston in fact favors the availability of torque at lower speeds, making starting from a standstill and accelerating in traffic easier. The electrical injection system
