From One Piece to reality: Airbnb offers accommodation around the world inspired by the universe of the most famous pirates between Liguria, Iceland, Bahamas and Tokyo
For generations of fans, One Piece it has always been much more than an anime: it is an imaginary made of impossible journeys, friendship and absolute freedom. Now that universe tries to leave the screen and transform into a real experience.
Airbnb has in fact presented a selection of accommodations inspired by the world of pop culture’s most famous pirateswith destinations spread across Europe, America and Asia. The idea is as simple as it is powerful: to allow travelers to feel, at least for a few days, part of a crew ready to set sail towards new adventures.
The platform offers eight spectacular accommodationsdesigned to evoke atmospheres and scenarios that recall the iconic places of the narrative universe of the saga: from the Mediterranean energy of Dressrosa to the suspended atmospheres of the islands in the sky.
From Liguria to Sicily: Italy also enters the pirate route
Among the destinations selected by Airbnb there is also Italy.
TO Levanto, in Liguriaa glamping site nestled between the sea and hills recalls the atmosphere of Shimotsuki villagethe place where the protagonists of the story find rest between one battle and another. A refuge designed to slow down and regain energy, just like what happens to crew members during breaks in their travels.
Still in the Mediterranean, but this time in Sicilya domed bungalow overlooking the sea pays homage to the Going Merrythe legendary ship of the Straw Hat Pirates. Here the design of the accommodation and the coastal landscape try to recreate that feeling of departing into the unknown that made the saga iconic.
From Peru to Iceland: landscapes that recall the worlds of the anime
The project is not limited to Europe. Some of the most spectacular locations are found in natural settings that seem straight out of the adventure maps.
In the Sacred Valley of Perua villa surrounded by nature recalls the atmosphere of Skypieathe island suspended in the clouds. The days pass between silence, mountains and views that seem suspended in time.
In Icelandhowever, the Nordura valley and the Laxfoss waterfall evoke the same sensation of wonder as the islands in the sky: open spaces, uncontaminated nature and landscapes that transform the stay into an almost epic experience.
From Spain to the California desert
The imagery of the series also reaches the heart ofAndalusiawhere a mansion near the Alhambra recalls the colorful kingdom of Dressrosawith decorated courtyards and Mediterranean architecture that combine history and elegance.
In the United States, however, a modern villa in the Morongo Valley, Californiarecalls the desert atmosphere of Alabasta: minimalist spaces, glass and arid landscapes that amplify the feeling of freedom and isolation.
From Japan to the Bahamas: the adventure continues
The journey continues until Tokyowhere a minimalist apartment in the Kōtō-ku neighborhood recalls the world of Wano Countrywith essential interiors and an aesthetic that refers to samurai culture.
Finally, in the Bahamasa cottage overlooking turquoise waters evokes the legendary East Bluethe sea from which the crew’s first adventures depart. A place where travel once again becomes above all a symbol of freedom and discovery.
When pop culture becomes experience
The project describes well a transformation that has been changing tourism in recent years: the imagery of pop culture becomes a real travel driver.
Films, series and anime are no longer just entertainment. They create emotional geographies that push fans to search in the real world for places capable of evoking the stories that made them dream.
After all, it is the same spirit that animates the adventure of the most famous pirates of pop culture: follow an unknown route, with the promise that somewhere, beyond the horizon, there is always a new world to discover.
