The New York police intervened on Wednesday night at the nightclub Amazuraafter reports of shots fired shortly after 11 p.m. local time. According to reports, an armed man opened fire inside the club, and then fired further shots outside. The nightclub, with a capacity of around 4,000 people, was very crowded at the time of the accident.
Eyewitnesses, whose testimonies were shared via the Citizen security platform, described scenes of panic: passers-by hiding in nearby shops, tables used to barricade themselves against windows and the immediate arrival of help. Videos published on the app clearly show the drama of the events.
Among the injured, three people were rushed to local hospitals. Authorities are still working to identify additional victims. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to find the person responsible, who is currently on the run. No official details on the motive or suspect have been released.
