Naples, Scudetto shot

Inter collapsed and Conte’s team takes advantage of it overcoming Turin. Now the sprint for the title is a descent in favor of the Neapolitans

Napoli’s arm has not trembled and now the Scudetto is much more than a dream. Almost a project made in half, if it is true that the fall of Inter and the simultaneous success of the Neapolitans against Turin has carved out a wake of three points in favor of Antonio Conte at the top of the ranking with a calendar very favorable to the leaders.

It was not difficult to imagine that the labors of a season conducted on crazy rhythms, in the end, could weigh on the Nerazzurri. It was not obvious, however, that Napoli was ready to collect what is left on the street by Inter without getting distracted or taking from the frenzy. Conte’s boys play a very skeletal and practical football, make up for absences and have exalted the qualities of Scott Mctominay. The Scottish midfielder taken from Manchester United by the end of the market is the man of the Neapolitan destiny: the brace with which he crashed Turin brings him to 11, an absolute record for a player from Scotland in Serie A and in general for a midfielder.

After crossing a difficult period in February (two nine -games wins), Napoli has now returned to having a clear and defined physiognomy. He defends without trouble, does not affect the eye for aesthetic quality but is capable of suffocating the opponent and enhancing all positive situations. Against Turin it happened with the goal of the almost immediate advantage and from then on the grenades were unable to get back on track.

It is not only the calendar that saying that the championship is walking towards Naples. The feeling is that Inter have finished gasoline just when the opponent has found brilliance. This data, combined with the cadence of the next commitments, makes +3 in the ranking almost a verdict. To overturn it, Simone Inzaghi will have to perform a miracle and hope that Antonio Conte will give something. Where? On paper the trip to Lecce the most difficult while Genoa, Parma and Cagliari do not present appreciable complexities.

Naples is ready to celebrate the fourth Scudetto of its history, the second of a cycle started by Spalletti and that Aurelio De Laurentiis was able to revitalize after last year’s flop. Staying out of Europe delivered a huge advantage to Conte, the Lecce coach was fantastic in capitalizing it. Now head on the handlebar for the last stretch of the Sprint, then there will be time to talk about the future.
