The head of state begins his end-of-year speech with references to Ukraine and Gaza
“Faced with the houses, the homes devastated by bombing in Ukrainian cities, faced with the destruction of power plants leaving children, the elderly, women and men in the cold of the freezing winter of those territories, faced with the devastation of Gaza, where newborns freeze to death in the cold, the desire for peace is ever higher and the refusal of those who deny it because they feel stronger becomes ever more incomprehensible and repugnant”. The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, said this in his message to Italians at the end of the year.
