After the fiery press releases and the controversies, the Serie A league is working to try to bring Roma-Lazio back to Sunday. But, for now, the approval of the Prefecture is missing.
Move the Rome derby and the rest of the Serie A day with the Champions League up for grabs and move forward with the final of the Internazionali d’Italia. Overwhelmed by the embarrassment of the institutional clash with the Prefecture of Rome, but also with fierce criticism from the Government, Italian football has worked to break out of the stalemate.
The solution to avoid having to resort to the TAR, which was in any case out of time for events scheduled for Sunday lunchtime, was explored in a series of contacts that continued while officially proceeding wall to wall.
Therefore, bring back Roma-Lazio and the four matches linked by mandatory simultaneity (Juventus-Fiorentina, Pisa-Napoli, Genoa-Milan and Parma-Como) to Sunday, bringing them forward to 12pm, asking Federtennis to reschedule the Foro Italico final at 5.30pm. Sufficiently far from the final whistle at the Olimpico to guarantee a margin for the outflow of football fans, greatly feared for public order, leaving room for tennis fans.
A mediation and not easy due to the short time available and the harshness of the clash that developed on the eve of the weekend of matchday number 37 of the championship. In the phase in which the scenario was outlined, the support of the Prefecture was lacking, thus leaving the idea of an informal negotiation on the table between the managers of the Lega Calcio Serie A and the leaders of Federtennis. The only certainty: the disorientation of hundreds of thousands of fans who lack the basic information to follow their favorite team in the penultimate effort of the championship.
