Sinner, everything easy on his return Machac beaten and now he finds Popyrin

After the defeat in Australia against Djokovic, Jannik is back: comfortable victory in the first round of the tournament in Qatar under the eyes of his girlfriend Laila Hasanovic

Here I go again Jannik Sinner. The Italian, number two in the world, returned to the field in Doha in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament beating Thomas Machac without problems, 6-1, 6-4 the final score. Sinner needed just an hour and 10 minutes to qualify in the second round where the Australian Popyrin awaits him who liquidated the Qatari wild card Zayd. Sinner dominated the first set without problems, which ended 6-1. The service statistics say it all: 3 aces, 74% of first serves, 86% of points won with the first serve and 80% with the second serve, for a total of only three points conceded to the opponent in the entire first set. More balance in the second set in which Jannik got the break at 2-2 without ever taking risks and with great solidity with some variations even at the net.

Jannik optimistic

“Today with the wind it wasn’t easy, but you have to adapt to every situation and condition on the pitch. We faced each other a couple of times with Machac, so I knew a little what to expect. I felt good on the pitch. Physically I feel good. Every match will become harder, so I hope to be ready for the next one”, Jannik seemed calm, the defeat against Nole is now over. With him in Qatar there are the trainer Umberto Ferrara, the osteopath Andrea Cipolla and obviously his coach Simone Vagnozzi. And above all there is girlfriend Laila Hasanovic who followed the match in the corner next to the team. Thinking back to the knockout with Djokovic on the eve of the tournament, Sinner said: “You can’t always win, sport is like that. But we immediately got to work to iron out a series of details that need some time to be metabolised.” Meanwhile tomorrow it’s Carlos Alcaraz’s turn against Rinderknech.
