Sinner, farewell to Cahill: “You were much more than a coach, someone to count on”

The Italian tennis player has made his separation from the Australian coach official, in his place will be the Swede Magnus Norman

The farewell had been in the air for some time, today the communication of the separation arrived Jannik Sinner by his coach Darren Cahill. It was the Italian tennis player himself who communicated it with very affectionate words: “Darren, when we started working together, in 2022, I was just an Italian boy with lots of questions. You never gave me all the answers. You helped me find them on my own. You came as one of my coaches, but very soon you became much more than that. A person I could trust, a person I could count on. This season didn’t end the way we wanted, but that doesn’t change what we did together. And it doesn’t change what these years mean to me. To your family I want to say thank you for sharing you with us. I know what it cost you and I don’t take it for granted at all. Much of who I am today, as a player and as a person, I owe to you.”

Vagnozzi and Norman

Now it’s up to Magnus Norman and Simone Vagnozzi train Jannik Sinner who is training in the gym these days and who has announced his return to the field on December 27th in Riyadh. Own Vagnozzi greeted Cahill like this: “Thank you for everything, my friend. They have been five fantastic years, full of satisfaction and success, but also of respect and friendship! With you by my side I have become a better coach! I know this is not goodbye, because we will always be a family, a family everywhere… except on a golf course! I wish you the best in everything that awaits you! See you soon, friend!”. E Cahill responded in turn: “Working with Jannik has been a special honor and privilege. He is an extraordinary guy, a humble champion and dedicated to the cause that we are all incredibly proud of – his words -. Trust, honesty and belief only work when they are mutual and this has been Jannik’s strength as an athlete. It’s also why coaching someone like him was such a memorable experience. I want to thank Jannik, the whole team and all the fans for welcoming this Australian into the wonderful Italian family. I wish the team nothing but continued success for years to come.”
