The prestigious Six Nations begins and Italy dreams of repeating the great performances of 2024. The captain of the Azzurri Lamaro: “Here are our objectives”.
We start again from the victory against Wales achieved at the Olimpico at the beginning of February 2025. Or, better yet, from the 2024 edition which was the one of the great dream with two immediate successes, the historic draw against France and then the stoic resistance in the face of England. Italy’s rugby team aspires to repeat that journey in the 2026 Six Nations which begins at home against Scotland on 7 February and will then include just one more home match (England) and three away games.
In short, it won’t be easy for the coach Gonzalo Quesada give continuity to the evident signs of growth of a national team that started practically from scratch two seasons ago. And that she was good at erasing that long dark period of defeats and that’s it, even honorable but depressing for the entire movement.
Italy enters the Six Nations and 2026 with the desire to consolidate the experience gained and show that it can continue to grow. It will be a special year because in the summer the Azzurri will also debut in the brand new Nations Championship: no more friendly matches, we will go to the other hemisphere to play a real competition. The best for those who want to accelerate their progress.

Six Nations 2026, Italy’s calendar
The format of the Six Nations also changes and does so with a change whose impact on the national teams will have to be verified along the way. One less week of recovery – a shorter calendar – and commitments grouped into two large blocks of challenges. Italy begins on February 7 at the Olimpico by hosting the Scotlandthen two trips full of unknowns: in Dublin againstIreland on February 14th and in the house of France in Paris eight days later (22 February).
Very little recovery time for anyone injured or bruised. This applies to the Azzurri but it will also weigh on everyone else. Then, after the break halfway through the tournament, here is the final sprint: Italy-England at the Olimpico in Rome on March 7th and a great finish in Cardiff against Wales on March 14.
Six Nations 2026, how to follow it on television
Two “sellouts” are already guaranteed for the home matches of ItalRugby which has given new strength to the enthusiasm of the fans with the fresh faces of the national team and the return to some victories. There will be no room at the Olimpico. On television, Italy’s five matches will be visible free-to-air and free of charge, obviously live, on the digital terrestrial TV8 channel. It is the television novelty of the season, given that coexistence with Rai is no longer available.
The entire tournament, however, will be exclusive to satellite and streaming Sky Sports And Now: all 18 matches of the men’s Six Nations plus the Under 20 Six Nations and the women’s Six Nations in April. The coverage will be complete and for the main event it will be accompanied by a group of commentators of the highest level: Diego Dominguez (best Italian scorer ever), Martin Castrogiovanni (119 caps), Andrea De Rossi (captain in 2004), Alessandro Moscardi (44 appearances), Pippo Frati (4) and the commentators Francesco Pierantozzi, Federico Fusetti And Paolo Malpezzi with Moreno Molla sent following the Azzurri.
