The new hybrids presented in Maranello

Ferrari today presented the new 296 special and 296 special A, high performance evolutions of the already famous 296 GTB and 296 GTS. Unveiled in the historical headquarters of the rampant horse, these two sportsmen represent a new peak in the brand’s hybrid proposal, pending the launch of the first fully electric Ferrari, scheduled for October 2025.

The new specials share the same plug-in hybrid platform: a 3.0-liter Biturbo V6 coupled with an electric motor, for a total power of 880 HP. In terms of performance, both models declare a 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and a maximum speed greater than 330 km/h. A result that shows how the hybrid, in the Ferrari house, is far from any compromise.

Between the two models, the 296 special stands out for a reduced weight of about 60 kg compared to 296 GTB. Merit of the intensive use of light materials and an aerodynamic redesign aimed at improving the load and handling. The 296 Special A, spider variant with retractable rigid roof, offers the same adrenaline driving experience in open-air configuration, without sacrificing structural rigidity and dynamic precision.

During the presentation, Enrico GallieraChief Marketing and Commercial Officer of Ferrari, he underlined: “They are the funniest cars that the company has ever produced”. A declaration that well summarizes the goal of these new versions: combine extreme engineering with pure driving pleasure.

The two cars will not be technically produced in a limited edition, but Ferrari will adopt a shorter production cycle to guarantee exclusivity and desability. Reservations will initially be open to a selection of customers who have had recent relations with the official Ferrari network.

On the commercial front, the 296 special will be available starting from the first quarter of 2026, while the special version will arrive in the following months. Italian prices will start from 407,000 euros for the coupe and 462,000 euros for the spider.
