No useful element from waste, still footprints without traces of blood, DNA still to be deciphered. Meanwhile, a blackout blocks the evidentiary accident: the recovery is set on 4 July
Eighteen years later, the house in via Pascoli continues to speak. But, at least for now, he says nothing new. Neither the blood, nor the footprints, nor the waste collected eight months after the murder of Chiara Poggi seem to offer decisive elements. Yet, the new investigation launched by the investigating judge of Pavia Daniela Garlaschelli does not stop: every minimum fragment of DNA could still change the face of one of the most controversial cases of the Italian judicial news.
A blackout slows down the evidentiary accident
The blackout which hit the area of the Milan Police Headquarters has slowed, but not stopped, the work of the experts commissioned by the investigating judge of Pavia, Daniela Garlaschelli, as part of the new investigation on the murder of Chiara Poggi, which took place in Garlasco in 2007. The geneticist Denise Albani and the dictiloscopist Domenico Marche was proceeding with the analyzes when the current interruption forced to suspend the exam on the exam on the examination Last four of the 34 Dactyloscopic stickers used to find the footprints in the house in via Pascoli.
The lawyer told what happened Angela Taccialawyer by Andrea Seveio – the only investigated in the bis investigation – e Marzio Capraformer Ris officer and Consultant of the Poggi family. “Unfortunately there was a blackout, so the latest champions could not analyze them because it was at risk to continue in this activity. So much so that the minutes was done manually”explained Capra, underlining how none of the stickers analyzed so far has been found the presence of blood: “The OBTs are all negative”.
A confirmation, second Giada Bocellarilawyer by Alberto Stasi – definitively sentenced for the murder – who said: “It was obvious. It was already seen from the photos. The only doubt for me is on the imprint 10I don’t think someone had doubts about the other footprints. The evidentiary accident on this point is specific for genetic characterization, not for the search for blood “.
The works will resume on July 4thas established by the calendar of investigations. Meanwhile, the samples of waste and other finds recovered inside the house eight months after the crime also ended on Thursday.
What (not) emerged from the garbage analyzes
Despite the 18 years spent from the crime, the waste seized at the time still retain biological material useful for analyzes. The preliminary results confirm that The finds were in good conservation conditionsthus allowing to withdraw champions who will now be examined in the scientific police laboratories. But how much these new analyzes will really help to rewrite the procedural truth remains an unknown factor.
During the long day of evidentiary accident, which lasted over ten hours, a legal question also emerged raised by the defense of SEMPIO. The lawyer Angela Probccia contested the validity of the acquisition of wasteclaiming that a seizure report would be missing following the release of the house. After the crime, in fact, the whole house was seized and, only eight months later, the waste was transferred to the legal medicine of Pavia, apparently without a new formal measure. The investigating judge reserved the right to decide on the matter, but still authorized the continuation of technical activities.
Among the waste examined: a saucer, two jars of fruit and plastic of the package, an ecstatic brick with straw, biscuits and a bag with cereals. No imprint was detected on these findsin an assessment that has been added to the main one aimed in search of genetic traces. Some partisan consultants had hypothesized that the materials were now unusable due to contamination or degradation; Still, the biological samples have in any case identified.
To confirm the good conservation is the General Luciano Garofanoexpert’s expert: «They were in good conservation conditions. They weren’t rot, it was all dry – he says – and buffering was done ». The lawyer of the Poggi family, Gianluigi Tizzoni: more cautious: “They are finds that are 18 years old and will give the answers they can give”.
The samples collected will now be analyzed and compared with the already known genetic profiles: those of the victim Chiara Poggi, by Alberto Stasi, by Andrea Seveio and other subjects who gravitate around the case. The first results are expected within a week, when they will be transmitted to the experts appointed by the investigating judge and made available to the parties for the comparison during the next hearing of the evidentiary accident.
Doubts about track 10
In addition to the swabs performed on the garbage, the scientific is also examining the biological material taken by the acetates containing the 34 footprints found on the crime scene: 17 examined on Tuesday, 13 yesterday. The Blackout prevented to complete the analysis on the last four acetates. No trace of blood has been found so far. However, on a particular imprint – the so -called “papillary 10”, detected on the internal door of the house – a margin of uncertainty remains. “While on all the footprints you see that there is no blood, on the 10 there are doubts – explains the lawyer of Stasi, Giada Bocellari -. We therefore asked for a more in -depth analysis for genetic characterization”. However, it has already been ascertained that the imprint does not belong to stasis or to always.
Before proceeding with the most complex analyzes in the Fatebenefratelli laboratories, experts, consultants and lawyers will find themselves on July 4 to complete the collection of samples, with the aim of closing the entire investigations phase within the 90 days established (possibly extendable) by the investigating judge.
Among the still expected results there is what many consider the real crucial point of this new investigation: the investigations on the DNA found under the nails of Chiara Poggi. Two male genetic profiles were extracted from that material: one deemed superimposable, according to the experts of the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office, to that of Andrea Semplio; The other still remains attributed to an unknown subject.
