Porsche’s digital transformation accelerates and passes through the cockpit. The German car manufacturer introduces a new generation of infotainment systems, designed to make the experience on board its cars faster, more intuitive and connected. At the center of the project is Porsche Digital Interaction, a platform that combines latest generation hardware, artificial intelligence, digital services and a completely renewed user interface. The debut is expected progressively on the new 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne, including the endothermic and hybrid versions.
The aim is to extend the digital language introduced with the Cayenne Electric to the entire range, creating a uniform experience between the different models and offering customers an increasingly customizable technological environment. “This new generation of infotainment allows us to offer an even more powerful digital platform, which combines improved performance, intelligent connectivity and a uniform user experience across the different model lines,” explains Oliver Seifert, head of the Infotainment & Connect area.
More power and greater fluidity
The generational leap starts from the hardware. The new system-on-chip architecture provides up to five times more computing power than the previous generation. An increase that translates into faster starts, reduced loading and greater fluidity in daily use.
The system is designed to manage multiple applications simultaneously, keeping them active in the background and allowing you to switch from one to another without waiting. A solution that aims to make interaction with the car more natural, especially when using navigation, multimedia content and connected services.
The platform also forms the basis for the introduction of new digital functions. Over-the-air updates will allow the software and some functions to be perfected even after the car is delivered, prolonging the evolution of the on-board experience over time.
An increasingly customizable digital cockpit
Porsche Digital Interaction introduces an interface characterized by a renewed UX/UI design, a uniform operating logic and extensive customization possibilities. Clearer layouts, fast response times and consistent management of different displays are the elements on which the new digital environment is based.
Among the new features, the three-dimensional model of the car stands out, detailed and fully rotatable, reproduced in the exact shade of the bodywork. Through the virtual representation of the car, the driver can directly access specific functions and settings.
Five selectable themes and configurable widgets also allow you to adapt the interface to your preferences, transforming infotainment into a more personal digital environment.
Navigation and artificial intelligence
The new platform also introduces a Navigation Plus system based on latest generation mapping technologies, with three-dimensional maps, online data and real-time traffic information.
On electric vehicles, the Porsche Charging Planner integrates the planning of charging stops with battery pre-conditioning, optimizing journey management.
A central role is entrusted to the advanced Voice Pilot, which uses artificial intelligence and a Large Language Model (LLM). The system is able to understand natural language, interpret requests divided into multiple steps and manage in-depth questions. Through voice commands it is possible to intervene on navigation, car functions, multimedia contents and some applications.
An integrated digital ecosystem
Porsche’s strategy aims to overcome the traditional distinction between car services and those available on smartphones. The new App Center allows you to download, select and update Porsche and third-party applications directly on board, with an offer destined to progressively expand in the streaming, navigation, parking and charging sectors.
Among the most significant innovations is the arrival of Apple Music directly in the App Center. Paired with high-end 3D surround sound systems from Bose and Burmester, the service supports Dolby Atmos, offering an immersive sound experience. Other compatible applications can also take advantage of this technology through Apple CarPlay.
Smartphone integration also pushes new interaction possibilities, including map display in the instrument cluster and route planning for electric cars with battery pre-conditioning, in selected markets.
The new generation of infotainment will be gradually introduced on newly produced cars in the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne ranges. The availability of individual functions will depend on the market, model, production date and specification.
With this evolution, Porsche confirms how digital technology has become an increasingly central component of the automotive experience. Not just a tool to manage navigation and entertainment, but a platform destined to evolve over time, accompanying the driver through increasingly intelligent and personalized interaction.
