Massimiliano Allegri is the new coach of Napoli. Three-year contract worth 4.5 million net. The presentation will be on July 14th in the city
As per tradition, Antonio Conte is succeeded by Massimiliano Allegri. In 2014 it happened to Juventus, in 2026 to Napoli. Now it’s official, as confirmed by the president of the Neapolitan club Aurelio De Laurentiis in a post on Instagram: in the image, the Livorno coach has the Napoli “N” pin on the lapel of his jacket. All doubts dispelled, in short.
The club then formalized the signing with a note on its website. Specifically, Allegri has signed a contract that binds him to Napoli until June 30, 2029.
Because Allegri’s announcement to Napoli has only arrived now
The economic agreement is based on four and a half million euros net per season. A figure slightly lower than the five million he received last year at Milan, with whom he still had a contract valid until June 2027. The agreement with Napoli, in any case, had been in the air for weeks: the announcement was postponed to July 3rd only because Allegri had to first formally free himself from the Rossoneri.
The career of Massimiliano Allegri
After his debut on the bench in the 2003/04 season, Allegri has built a career marked by numerous titles at national level, especially in the first part of his career (until 2019). In 2007/08 he led Sassuolo to their first promotion to Serie B in their history, also winning the Serie C1 Super Cup. Then the leap to Serie A with Cagliari, where he surprisingly finished ninth in the standings and won a well-deserved Golden Bench.
At Milan, since 2010, he won the eighteenth scudetto in his first season and, the following year, the sixth Italian Super Cup in the Rossoneri’s history. With Juventus, between 2014 and 2019, he undoubtedly had his period of glory. In those years, he accumulated five championships in a row, four consecutive Italian Cups, two Super Cups and two Champions League finals. After a less happy return to Juventus, he won his fifth Italian Cup in 2024. Last year, back at Milan, he finished the championship in fifth place, after having been in contention for the championship until March.
In light of his CV, it is undoubtedly about a coach accustomed to the important places. He knows what it means to manage pressure, expectations and ambitious goals.
When will he be presented to Napoli
At first, the club had considered introducing the new coach directly to Dimaro, home of the summer training camp. The idea was later shelved. Allegri will instead be presented in Naples Tuesday 14 July, in a setting that could be that of the San Carlo theater. A non-random choice: Napoli is in fact approaching its centenary (1 August), and a grand presentation would therefore be justified by the glorious occasion.
The technician, moreover, is not at all a stranger to the city. As a footballer, he wore the blue shirt in the 1997/98 season. A circle that closes, therefore, after almost thirty years.
