After the difficulties of the first two matches, the world number one is improving: devastating serve and victory in three sets against the American. Sunday challenges Mochizuki
The path of Jannik Sinner continues and the performances of the world number one are increasingly convincing. Jannik is growing, perhaps not yet at the top, but it was enough to manage, however, for close 6-4 6-3 6-4 in two hours and 13′ and take a seat in the round of 16 where awaits the Japanese Mochizuki. The victory against the American Brooksby has never been in question, the numbers say 13 aces and 66% of firsts on the court, with the forehand much less fouled, 9 errors out of 27 total compared to 29 winners. Sinnner comments thus: “We try to improve every day, I have seen small improvements but there is still something to be done to move forward in the tournament. The people also helped me, I put my finger in my ear as I don’t usually do, I have to thank them”.
The match
Sinner didn’t get off to a great start in response, but it was still enough for him the break in the seventh game to take home the set with a super performing serve (6 aces and 72% first serves) and without granting break points. Some more suffering in the second set, but only until 3-3, then Jannik broke his opponent’s serve twice and finished 6-3. And in the third Sinner had some shivers, caught in some mistakes, asked for the public’s help and when Brooksby believed he could reopen the match at 4-4 Sinner made the decisive extension and closed the score.
