The Armed Forces between concentration and commitment: the Defense Village has opened in Rome

The initiative, conceived to bring the world of Defense closer to citizens, is also an opportunity for reflection for the four Italian soldiers who died in Bosnia

As part of the celebrations for National Unity and Armed Forces Day, last Friday, at the Circus Maximus in Rome, the Defense Village opened its doors: a space which, designed to bring the world of Defense closer to citizens, will remain open until Wednesday 4 November.

As underlined by the Ministry of Defence, the Village, following the tragic death of the four Italian soldiers in Bosnia, has become “a space of reflection, memory and participation, in which the entire national community can ideally rally around our Fallen, their families, the wounded and all those who are experiencing these difficult hours”. It is in this sense that, on Friday, the Prime Minister, Giorgia Melonitogether with the Minister of Defense Guido Crosettoplaced a bundle of roses at the Defense Village as a tribute to the four deceased soldiers.

Returning to the exhibitions present at the Circus Maximus, in the stands of the Joint Forces Operational Command (COVI) there is a photographic exhibition that tells the story of the commitment of the Italian military in missions abroad. The project, strongly desired by COVI, wanted to demonstrate how the Armed Forces, alongside operational activities, support local populations and contribute to civil progress and cooperation between peoples.

For this reason, some of the most significant journalistic articles were selected, reproduced on the exhibition totems, to make civil society aware of the human, military and social value of this commitment. Among the articles chosen, there is also one by the journalist of the Truth And Panorama, Stefano Graziosiappeared on The Truth on December 6, 2020.
